A Song of Commitment
Words & Music by Christy Kohnle
Christy has observed—as most everyone has—that it is becoming increasingly difficult to take a stand for the Christian faith in today's culture. As she wrote "No Matter the Cost," she was thinking of the church she attends, and others like it, which have made the choice to lead in love and stand up for God's truth, even when the cost was great.
Reminiscent of the classic Christian hymn "Onward, Christian Soldiers," this song is a natural fit anytime a body of Christians gathers to boldly declare the stand they intend to take in today’s culture. While it is ideal for corporate worship at men’s gatherings, youth rallies, conventions, and more, its words also invite thoughtful reflection as we consider our role in standing for God’s truth in the world.
Verse 1
Sov'reign Lord, You have called us to this place,
And we are here, together now, only by Your grace.
We hold firm and, by faith, grow stronger still,
As we, renewed in righteousness, seek to do Your will.
Chorus
In unity we each have made our choice
To be a light amid this present darkness.
Together, one body with one voice,
We will preach God's holy Word to a desp'rate, dying world.
We are here to seek and save the lost, no matter, no matter the cost!
Verse 2
So now we stand; You have called us to defend
The saving grace You offer us, 'til our dying breath.
Through this faith, our hope is found in You.
Our great desire: to show the world Your promises are true.
Chorus
Verse 3
In faith we live, as Your Holy Spirit moves;
We're choosing lives of sacrifice, walking in Your Truth.
We give our lives as a thankful offering.
And, from today and evermore, in gratitude we sing.
Chorus
